You don’t need to book on guild meetings, just come along. Guild meetings are held on the first Saturday of each month (unless stated otherwise), and the charge is £3 for guild-members and £5 for non-members. This helps towards room hire and supply of teas and coffees.

18 November 10 am to 4 pm Working with silk with Jean Thorn
For the first part of this workshop we will look at different types of silk fibre available to hand spinners and learn ways of spinning them. The second part will be all about blending and incorporating silk into our yarn.
Please bring any silk you have in your stash and some fibre to blend with. Packs of different types of silk fibre will also be provided.

20 January 10 am to 4 pm Warping up (4-shaft plus looms) with Andrew Johnson
This will be a chance to see how I go about making a warp and for you to make a short warp.
At least Two packages of yarn will be needed and warping equipment such as a mill, board or pegs.
I will bring along a Katie loom and show how I go about putting the warp on to it.

Learning how to weave with Bettina, Sue Fencott and Anona
Start weaving on a rigid heddle loom (an easy and accessible type of loom). We will show how to warp up, weave a range of patterns and colours, and take off your weaving.

Weaving new from old with Riitta Sinkkonen Davies
It is all about recycling, turning old fabrics from unused garments and textiles into new fabrics and new purpose.
Suitable for rigid heddle and 4-shaft looms

18 May Finger braiding with Andrew
This will be a session where we can experiment with finger loop braiding. This is where loops of thread are held by the fingers of both hands and by careful manipulation made into braids. This technique was used for tying clothes together in the middle ages particularly. We will use knitting cotton in a couple of colours for this workshop. A clamp to attach you to the table would be useful along with scissors.
